Ever since word hit the web that Disney was making a live-action remake of the animated classic The Little Mermaid, there’s been one main question on everyone’s minds. And that is — who will play Ariel and Prince Eric? Well guys, there are a ton of rumors going around lately about who has been chosen for the iconic roles, and um, you might want to brace yourselves.
So according to a tweet from Twitter user @theredneighbor, Disney has their eyes on none other than Harry Styles and Noah Centineo for the role of the handsome prince. Now, we’re not too sure where the account got this information from or if it’s even true, but their tweet quickly started spreading like wildfire. And naturally, the internet started to freak over the news. We mean, Harry and Noah are both seriously swoon-worthy, so imagining either of them as Prince Eric is sending us all into a sweat already!
As fans know, the 25-year-old One Direction singer made his acting debut back in 2017, when he starred in the flick Dunkirk. As for Noah, 23, he’s appeared in a ton of movies, including To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, Sierra Burgess Is a Loser and The Perfect Date!
But what about the princess, you ask? Well, the mysterious Twitter account claimed that Shameless actress Jane Levy and Shake It Up star Zendaya are being considered for the role of Ariel. And it turns out, this isn’t the first time rumors that Zendaya was starring as the mermaid circulated the web. But back in September 2018, the 22-year-old addressed them once and for all.
“I loved The Little Mermaid. It is honestly one of my favorite movies of all time. I was obsessed with it when I was a little kid,” she told People Magazine. “It’s just a rumor so we will see. I am an actor, I just like good roles. Things I can soak into and really sink my teeth into. I always try to find characters that I can find some human connection to.”
We know that whoever Disney casts is seriously going to do an amazing job.
