There’s been a ton of speculation that Dove Cameron may star in the upcoming film adaptation of Wicked, and the actress has finally addressed the rumors.

In case you missed it, the movie adaptation of epic Broadway musical (which is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz) is set to hit theaters out in December of 2021. But unfortunately, the details on the upcoming film have been pretty scarce so far. The cast hasn’t been announced yet, but when the internet nominated Dove for the role of Glinda (the good witch), we were honestly so here for it.

But it turns out, the Descendants actress is totally surprised by the rumors!

“Well, that just totally shocked me and threw me for a loop!” the 23-year-old told Entertainment Tonight at the 2019 Teen Vogue Young Hollywood Party on February 15. “I don’t think everyone wants me to be Glinda but, I mean, it’s like the role of a lifetime. I’ve been dreaming of it since I was, like, 7. I mean, I should be so lucky to be considered.”

The original play starred Kristin Chenoweth (you’ll probably recognize her from Glee) and Idina Menzel (she played Elsa in Frozen), and the Disney star explained that she would be honored to take on Kristin’s role.

“Kristin has been my main inspiration since I was seven,” she gushed. “I’m a massive fan, so it’d be a huge responsibility and I would be lucky to be considered!”

Kristin and Dove are super close, of course, since the 50-year-old actress played Dove’s mom in the Descendants movies and in and Hairspray Live!

But when the outlet pressed her, the actress stayed tight-lipped about the rumors.

“I think I can’t say anything about that,” she said. “Hollywood is, like, a fluid thing.”

UGH. You’re killing us, Dove! As fans know, Dove is certainly a perfect fit for the role. She’s no stranger to theater or to musicals, especially since she just finished starring as the iconic Cher in an off-Broadway production of Clueless: The Musical. Not to mention that she slayed Hairspay Live! and totally shined in the Descendants movies, so yeah, we could definitely get behind her starring as Glinda! Hopefully we get some updates soon!
