Congrats Ed Sheeran! The singer just confirmed that he and his longtime girlfriend, Cherry Seaborn, are officially husband and wife!
The 28-year-old dropped his new album, No. 6 Collaborations Project, on Friday, July 12. And in one of the songs, “Remember the Name” featuring Eminem and 50 Cent, Ed refers to the brunette beauty as his wife.
“Watch how the lyrics in this song might get twisted / My wife wears red but looks better without the lipstick,” he sings.
Naturally, the line of the song caught fans’ attention, and rumors quickly started spreading that the couple had secretly gotten married. And while speaking to iHeartRadio about the album, the “Thinking Out Loud” crooner gave us the confirmation we’ve all been waiting for.
“It was actually before me and Cherry got married, and I knew that we’d be married by the point that the song came out,” he said. “I was like, ‘Someone’s going to hear that and be like, ‘Oh they’re married.’ I didn’t know how that would be. But, obviously, it’s already come out.”
As fans know, rumors first started swirling that the two had secretly wed back in February. The Sun claimed that the two had a secret ceremony at his country home in Suffolk a few months earlier.
“Ed got married a few days before Christmas. It was very quiet — just Ed’s oldest school pals, limited family and the priest,” a source told them. “There were only 40 people. So no Taylor Swift, record company executives or any royals or pop star pals. He wanted no fuss and he wanted it to be something entirely for them — just a tiny winter wedding. Neither of them were that fussed about making a big deal about it. Cherry just wanted to get it out of the way without any problems or intrusions.”
The lovebirds met when they were only 11 years old and attended the same high school. They announced their engagement in January 2018. Congrats to the married couple!
