Social media trolls have nothing on Gigi Hadid. On Tuesday, November 5, the model took to Twitter to stick up for herself after followers criticized her street style in since-deleted tweets.

“She’s such a natural beauty… [I don’t know] what happened to her iconic street style [though],” one fan wrote. While another added, “What happened is called Mimi,” referring to Gigi’s stylist since 2016, Mimi Cuttrell.

The social media backlash came after the model was photographed wearing black leggings with an oversized sweatshirt, puffer jacket and workout sneakers.

Once Gigi caught wind of what people were saying online, she took to Twitter responding to the hate and slamming the trolls for their “snarky comments.”

“[You] guys need to calm [the f**k] down sometimes. It’s called stepping out to do one errand — not dressing for your approval. Your unrealistic expectations & petty complaining all the time about my style or not being sexy enough isn’t going to make me dress differently,” Gigi wrote. “Not just talking about this specific comment. [You] all talk about empowering women. I support and empower women that show skin and that don’t. It’s about choice. I show skin when I want to and still feel sexy covered head to toe & will continue to do so. Over the snarky comments.”

One fan wrote back to the model and explained they didn’t like the outfit and had no intention of upsetting anyone.

“I mean i just don’t like the recent outfits, I liked the old ones better,” they said. “And I think that’s great, dress however [you] want….”

But it didn’t end there! Gigi replied to another fan who criticized her stylist and clarified that the outfit wasn’t styled, it was how she chose to “express herself.”

“I like what I wear and wear it for that reason,” she explained. “It’s not about a stylist, it’s how I’m choosing to express myself. Your opinion isn’t going to change that. Those of you who feel this way should focus your energy on praising those whose style [you] love. Peace.”
