Fans started to speculated that Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid had called it quits after they noticed that the “Pillowtalk” singer had unfollowed his model girlfriend on Instagram last week. It was truly a shocking rumor, considering the couple has been together for more than three years now. But unfortunately, sources close to the pair have just confirmed that they’ve indeed gone their separate ways, and our hearts are breaking.
“They’re done,” an insider revealed to Us Weekly. “They could get back together, but it’s over for now.”
A second source explained that the 23-year-old “tried hard to make it work,” but the former One Direction member unfortunately has “a lot of his own issues that she couldn’t help him get through.”
“She cut herself off from all her friends every time they were together,” the insider continued. “She focused all her time and energy on him, but it just got to be too much.”
As J-14 readers know, Zayn just released his second studio album, Icarus Falls, and Gigi just walked in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, so they’ve both been pretty busy with work. A source also told In Touch how the “Still Got time” singer is coping with their most recent split — and turns out, he’s not taking it so well.
“After arguing for months Gigi and Zayn have decided to call time on their relationship,” the insider said. “He’s not in a great place right now.”
“Gigi still has feelings for Zayn, but they’ve been barely spending any time together due to Gigi’s hectic modeling career,” the In Touch source added. “She’s constantly traveling to glamorous locations for shoots and Zayn gets insecure when they’re not together.”
Ugh, our hearts! Besides the 25-year-old unfollowing Gigi on Instagram, there were some other major clues that things had gone downhill for our OTP. Fans also noticed that Z and G hadn’t been spotted together since October, which is a long time for these two, who were normally inseparable. Plus, they even spent the holidays apart — for the first time in years.
But there is some hope for our favorite couple, since fans know that they went their separate ways once before and ended up back together. Zayn and the 23-year-old broke up back in March of 2018, but was spotted kissing a few weeks later! We’re really hoping that what happened last time happens again because we’re so not ready to accept that this is the end of Zigi.
