According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly on Tuesday, August 25, Jamie Lynn Spears was named the trustee of sister Britney Spears‘ SJB Revocable Trust, in the event that she passed away.

The publication reported that while the songstress is alive, she is the “sole beneficiary” of the SJB Trust, which was set up to protect her fortune and her children’s financial future. In 2018, the documents stated that the trust was amended so the Zoey 101 star would be listed as a “trustee.”

Jamie will receive “the entire principal of the Trust, including all accused and undistributed and unrealized income” in the event that Britney dies, according to the docs. The income will also be combined with “any insurance on the settlor’s life or other assets payable to the Trust as a result of settlor’s death [and will be] distributed by the Trustee to the trustee or co-trustee of the BJS Kids & Family Trust.”

As fans know, the documents regarding Jamie’s involvement came just after the actress defended her “unstoppable” sister from social media hate amid the “Free Britney” Movement. For those who missed it, after an Instagram follower asked Jamie to “speak on” her sister’s “obvious mental illness,” the mother of two hit back.

“You have no right to assume anything about my sister. And I have no right to speak about HER health and personal matters,” she said, according to screenshots posted on the Comments By Celebs Instagram account. “She is a strong, bada**, unstoppable woman, and that’s the only thing that is OBVIOUS.”

For those who missed it, fans of the pop star have continuously taken to social media and expressed concern about the singer’s conservatorship. Britney was first placed under a conservatorship in 2008 and her father, Jamie Spears, served as her conservator until September 2019, when Britney’s care manager, Jodi Montgomery took over. On August 17, Britney filed court documents requesting to remove her dad as her conservator, as he is “strongly opposed” to him returning, according to Us Weekly.

A source also told the publication that, “Britney does want the conservatorship of her as a person to end, but she was concerned that Jamie could attempt to have the temporary conservator removed. There has been significant improvement in Britney’s overall medical treatment plan, which has been attributed to no longer having her father in charge of her personal life.”
