It seems like fans of the YouTube beauty community were unhappy after receiving Jeffree Star‘s most recent Mini Mystery Box. For those who missed it, on Black Friday, the makeup artist dropped the exclusive, holiday-edition of his Mini Mystery Boxes. The box was set to include three cosmetic products, with one being an “exclusive mystery cosmetic item.” Now, customers have started to receive their orders in the mail. But there’s just one issue — the boxes contained Jeffree Star-themed stickers instead of an exclusive product.

Upset over the contents of their boxes, fans took to Twitter and called out Jeffree for “false advertising.”

“I love your brand but this is false advertising as I only got two Cosmetics items in my Mini Mystery Box and the mystery item was just stickers,” one Twitter user wrote with another adding, “Traditional tattoo stickers? I mean I love them… but really? I think they should’ve been an extra item rather than it being the third item, but hey it’s a Mystery Box.”

The 34-year-old old makeup artist started to notice fans complaints on social media and on Friday, December 6, responded with a letter on behalf of his brand, Jeffree Star Cosmetics, which offers customers full refunds for their Mini Mystery Boxes.

“You will be receiving a refund for your Mini Mystery Box that was purchased during our Black Friday Sale, your order IS NOT CANCELLED,” the letter read. “Your order will be shipped as planned.”

It turned out, when the boxes were advertised to consumers there was a miscommunication when it came to the contents of the box. The initial, since-deleted advertisement posted to Instagram stated that each box would include “at least 1 exclusive cosmetic item,” whereas the website said that the Mini Box would only include a mystery item — meaning the stickers.

As fans know, this came just a few weeks after the YouTube star received backlash on social media after fans received damaged Conspiracy palettes from Jeffree’s collection with Shane Dawson.
