So Netflix just announced that they’re making a sequel to To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, and naturally, everyone’s freaking out. The first movie quickly became an all-time-favorite after Peter Kavinsky and Lara Jean Covey’s love story stole all of our hearts, so everyone was pretty excited over the news. Well, right when we had all finally recovered from the announcement, Dumplin‘ hottie Luke Benward dropped a major hint that he might play John Ambrose in the new film, and now, we’re spazzing out all over again.

The actor posted a comment on Seventeen‘s Instagram account that quickly caught fans attention. When the outlet questioned who might star as John in the much-anticipated sequel, the former Good Luck Charlie star wrote, “Hmmmmmm.”

For those of you who forgot, in the first movie, Lara Jean wrote five letters to boys she used to love — one which was returned to her house since it was addressed to her camp, and three that got delivered to the boys in her school. But what about that fifth letter? In the film, Lara explained that the final boy she wrote a love note to was John Ambrose McClaren, who she met at Model UN, so he didn’t live in her town. But the Netflix rom-com ended with him showing up at her door, flowers in hand, ready to stir up some drama.

And in the announcement video for the sequel, Lana Condor practically confirmed that the movie will focus on John’s return, after she got a phone call from a mystery actor. “What?” she exclaimed to the person on the other line. “You’re going to make the perfect John Ambrose!”

Naturally, fans have tried to investigate on who it might be. And besides Luke’s interesting comment, there’s another big clue that he’s might star in the sequel. He and TATBILB actor Noah Centineo have actually been best friends for a while! Noah shared a snap with the actor back in October, and he even shouted the 23-year-old out on his Instagram Story last week, when he reposted an article about Luke, writing, “That’s my boi right there.”

Another thing we know is that the original actor that played John in the first movie hasn’t been cast to play him in the second movie. “Thank you all for your messages and your support today,” Jordan Burtchett wrote on Twitter yesterday, Dec. 20. “I haven’t been responding because I’m actually not confirmed yet for the sequel! But I will let you know as soon as I do.”

So it definitely seems like it could be Luke! Some other suggestions have ranged from Cole Sprouse to our personal favorite, Shawn Mendes (he isn’t even an actor! LOL.). A lot of fans think that it might be the Riverdale star because a fan Facebook page made some very convincing movie posters that suggested Cole would be starring in the second film at the beginning of the November. It’s truly a mystery, but we’re hoping we get confirmation on whether it’s Luke, Cole, or someone else soon!
