Everyone is so proud of Madison Beer. The singer just revealed that she is officially one year clean of self harm, and in honor of the milestone, she took some time to reflect on her journey.

Taking to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, August 26, the brunette beauty shared a screenshot of her calendar app.

“As of today, I am officially one year clean of self harm. I never thought I’d be able to say this and I am so proud of myself,” she wrote. “It has been an uphill battle, so whether you might be one day, one week, one month or one year clear, I’m so proud of you.”

She added in another post, “I’d also like to add… No one around me really knew I was struggling when I was. I hid not only my self harm, but my pain from the world. Please, please, please do not ignore the signs if you think someone you know might be struggling. Reach out to your friends. You truly never know what goes on behind closed doors. If you are struggling at all, please, please know it does get better and you are so valid and worthy of love and I believe in you.”

As fans know, the 21-year-old’s message comes just months after she opened up about all the negative comments she has received online. Yep, back in April, Madison announced that she was taking a break from TikTok after receiving a lot of backlash on the app.

“This might be my last TikTok for a bit, my loves. The energy on this app is draining me,” she wrote. “So much hate and negativity, it’s all i see these days. I’m not even just speaking about myself. Every video of anyone I see, the comments are all mean. All the time. It breaks my heart. I’m tired of seeing a girl dance on my [‘For You’ page], only to go to the comments and see people making fun of her body or something. It hurts me. So much. I just want this app to change and I want people to realize how much their words can impact others. I know it won’t. But I can hope. It’s just not okay, guys. I loved TikTok and wanna stay in here but… This horrible behavior should’ve never been normalized.”
