Get ready, SpongeBob SquarePants fans, because there’s reportedly a brand new spinoff series about Patrick Star in the works, and we’ve got all the exciting deets! Yep, according to Deadline, SpongeBob’s partner in crime is getting his very own TV show, called The Patrick Star Show, and boy, does it sound like it’s going to be epic.
So get this — Bill Fagerbakke, who has played the star fish that we all know and love for the last 20 years, is set to continue his role for the new series. The outlet reported that the show is expected have 13-episodes in total, and will feature Patrick as he hosts a mock late night talk show. It will reportedly revolve around him and his family, with a ton of exciting new characters joining the already iconic crew. But wait, will the OG SpongeBob characters, like Squidward Tentacles, the sponge himself and Mr. Krabs, be in it? Well, Deadline explained that some cast members are expected to reprise their roles for occasional appearances, but didn’t reveal which ones.
As fans know, this isn’t the only new show revolving around SpongeBob that is in the works! Back in November 2019, it was reported that a series centered around Squidward was coming to Netflix! Want to know the best part? According to The New York Times, it’s going to be a musical! How exciting is that?!
That’s not all. Back in June 2019, Nickelodeon announced that another SpongeBob SquarePants spinoff show called Kamp Koral was in the works. The new series will be a prequel to the original show. It will follow SpongeBob when he was a kid — 10 years old, in fact — while he embarks on a ton of adventures at sleepaway camp.
“In the series, SpongeBob and his pals spend the summer building underwater campfires, catching wild jellyfish and swimming in Lake Yuckymuck at the craziest camp in the kelp forest, Kamp Koral,” the network said in a statement.
“SpongeBob has an incredible universe to expand upon and the green light for Kamp Koral is a testament to the strength and longevity of these characters known and loved by generations of fans around the world,” Ramsey Naito, Nickelodeon’s Vice President of Animation Production and Development, added.
Wow, there’s so much to look forward to for us SpongeBob fans, and we’re not complaining!
