Radio host Nick Grimshaw, who has been rumored to be romantically involved with Harry Styles in the past, used his last Radio 1 Breakfast Show yesterday to basically crush all of our One Direction dreams. Fans were super stoked to hear the host play “Drag Me Down” during the very last moments of his run on the show, but then he said something that really (you guessed it) dragged us down.
“When we started this show they were all together as a five piece,” he said. “Do you think they’ll ever get back together? No, not a chance. It’s not happening, is it?”
What worries people is that Nick is tight with Hazza– so it’s like, does he know something we don’t? Honestly, we just have to disagree with the dude. Not only have there been so many times when the boys sang One Direction songs during this hiatus, but they’re also always saying the most heart-warming things about one another. Niall Horan even recently spilled that he plans on reuniting with Louis Tomlinson on X Factor. Trust us, you guys. A reunion is in the future, if not only for the fact that WE NEED IT.
Now for this whole secret love affair. Depite all the rumors that Nick and Harry were a thing, the radio host confirmed that they were really only ever just great friends.
“I think that people assumed that because I was gay and he wears like floral shirts that he must be gay, and they were like they must be going out with each other,” he said in an interview with The Sun. “But I don’t know, it was something we never actually discussed together.”
To add another layer to the saga – Greg James, the host who is replacing Nick on the radio show is actually Ellie Goulding‘s ex. And as we all know, Niall dated Ellie for quite some time. The One Direction dating web is a complex one, that’s for sure.
But let’s get back to this One Direction not getting back together thing. Yeah sorry Nick, but all signs are pointing to ~you’re wrong~.
