Although Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson have been broken up for almost a month now, the couple just can’t really seem to stop talking about each other! From shouting him out in her new song, “thank u, next,” to dropping some major references about their relationship in her “Breathin” music video, Ariana has shared her truth in her own way. Pete on the other hand, well, he has had absolutely no chill either, as he’s been constantly mentioning his ex on his show, Saturday Night Live.
In the most recent episode, the 24-year-old comedian brought up Ari once again when he joked about having to move in with his mom ever since his split from the “Dangerous Woman” singer. “Can you imagine being Pete Davidson’s mom?” he asked. “It can’t be easy when everyone’s mad at your son AND roommate.”
Then, things got really awkward when another guest on the show Dan Crenshaw’s phone started ringing and the ringtone just happened to be Ariana’s song “Breathin.”
“Ariana Grande’s…cool,” Pete mumbled, to which Dan responded, “Oh, do you know her?” Talk about awkward!
This isn’t the only time he’s spoken about the singer on the show, either. Although he didn’t directly mention her name, right after their breakup, he threw major shade at the 25-year-old singer for calling off their engagement. He claimed he was “0 for three” after doing a skit where he got denied after asking a woman to marry him, and this was something she wasn’t too happy to see. And after the release of Ariana’s “thank u, next,” he brought the singer up again on air.
“The last thing I will say is I know some of you are curious about the break-up. The truth is it’s nobody’s business, and sometimes things just don’t work out. And that’s okay,” he said. “She’s a wonderful, strong person, and I genuinely wish her all the happiness in the world.”
But they back and forth didn’t stop there. Ariana threw another jab at her whirlwind romance when she commented on an Instagram post about “tips and tricks for finding the perfect engagement ring.” She simply “don’t.” Ouch! But hey, at least she’s trying to poke a little fun at herself, right? It’s been a tough year for Ariana and while breakups always hurt, hopefully, both she and Pete are able to fully move on.
