Former Modern Family costars Sarah Hyland and Ariel Winter have nothing but love for each other. On Sunday, February 23, Sarah took to Instagram and defended her onscreen sister after an internet troll left a negative comment about Ariel’s outfit.
For those who missed it, in honor of Modern Family‘s final episode, the actresses posted a series of photos of themselves wearing similar black dresses. In the snaps, Sarah wore a bodycon tank top dress while Ariel showed some skin in her sheer dress.
“I love these people with all my heart. 11 years together is proof you and your TV sister will start wearing the same outfit, siblings for life will be made, and you’ll forever fight over the same professor,” Sarah captioned the Instagram post. “We’ll always be Dunphys and we’ll always have each other.”
Naturally, fans were quick to leave comments on the photos. Some people praised the girls and their stunning looks, but not everyone had something nice to say. Upon seeing a negative comment that read, “What was she thinking … Seriously?” Sarah clapped back and defended her “TV sister.”
“That she’s a sexy and confident woman. Everyone that is making a negative comment about my sister can back the f**k up because I will not tolerate it,” the 29-year-old wrote.
That’s not the only comment Sarah replied to. Another person who asked, “What’s up with Ariel Winter’s outfit tho?” also received a reply from the actress.
“You [mean] that she’s [fire]?? I KNOW,” Sarah said.
As fans know, Sarah and Ariel — who played Haley and Alex Dunphy — became BFFs during their 11 years working on Modern Family together. Previously, Sarah gushed about her onscreen sister to People and revealed how they both learned to deal with the haters.
“I think Ariel is such an amazing woman and has always been so mature and handles [hate] with such grace and poise,” she said. “I think, between the two of us, we really have gone and tackled [internet trolls] with all of our spite and wit.”
