Celebrities know they’ve made it in Hollywood once they’ve gotten their own Madame Tussauds wax figure. How cool would it be to have your own life-size replica?!

For those of you that don’t know, Madame Tussauds is a wax museum with locations all over the world — including London, Berlin, Sydney, Las Vegas, Hollywood, New York and more! The museum features tons of statues made to look like celebrities, presidents, sports players, historical figures and even characters from some of our favorite movies and TV shows. And sometimes the results look so real it’s actually pretty freaky!

Of course, when One Direction was added into the museum’s hall of fame, fans totally freaked out. But following their split, it was announced that their wax figures were being removed from Madame Tussauds’ London museum, where they were on display since September 2013. The removal announcement came just after One Direction’s 10th anniversary on July 23, 2020.

“The figures have been an important part of the attraction since their launch in 2013 and we know fans have loved having the chance to ‘meet’ the band,” Madame Tussauds London wrote via their official Twitter account. “With each member of the bands’ continuing success in their solo careers, we felt this anniversary was a fitting moment for the figures to bow out and end their tenure at the attraction as a five-piece.”

The statement continued, “We are constantly updating what guests can expect to see at Madame Tussauds London, reacting to the celebrity landscape. The showbiz world is ever-changing, and so are we. Much like One Direction’s dedicated fan base, we’re keenly watching what the gentlemen have up their sleeves for the next decade.”

Upon hearing this, Niall Horan took to Twitter and responded to the news! “I don’t live too far from there, so I’m going to knock on the door until it’s back up!” he joked with fans who won a contest to chat with him over Zoom at the time. “I don’t know how those things work. We’ve had it for 10 years there, it’s an end of an era.”

The 1D boys aren’t the only celebs who’ve been immortalized in wax over the years!  From Ariana Grande to Selena Gomez to Miley Cyrus to Demi Lovato, we’ve gone ahead and rounded up the best celebrity wax figures of all time. Click through our gallery to see!
