Just when Riverdale fans thought we had solved the mystery of The Black Hood, The Gargoyle King stepped in to wreak havoc all over the town. The Gargoyle King — a giant creature with a bloody, snout-shaped face and branches for wings — has been one of the main focuses this season, and we’ve all been wondering who the heck he really is. Now, on Wednesday, January 23, 2019’s episode — “The Stranger” — the creature’s true identity was finally revealed and OMG… it’s not who we expected at all!

Turns out, the culprit is actually Tall Boy! Remember him? He was a former member of Jughead’s Serpent gang, but he was exiled after they discovered he was secretly working for Hiram Lodge in Season 2. Tall Boy had been presumed dead, but in true Riverdale style, the show shocked us all when Jughead discovered that not only is he still alive and kicking, but he’s also been behind the Gargoyle King this entire time!

Wow, finally, the mystery is solved. Well, not exactly. Because get this — it seems like there might be more than one Gargoyle King. In the episode, Betty’s serial killer dad, Hal (in case you forgot, he turned out to be The Black Hood), came back too, and he claimed that he’s the original Gargoyle King. So although Betty debunked his statement, it probably means that someone else is actually the original Gargoyle King, and he’s still out there.

Ugh, just when we thought there would be peace in Riverdale! Well, we guess that would be boring, right? And besides, there’s a ton of other problems besides The Gargoyle King that the town’s facing. Mainly, you know, the mass seizures that Hiram bestowed upon the people of Riverdale. Not to mention the fact that since Riverdale is under quarantine, the entire town is now under Hiram’s control. Yeah, it’s truly a mess.

On the bright side, there’s a musical episode coming later this season, and we seriously can’t wait. It’s not airing until March, but the executive producer of the show, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the cast will be taking on Heathers: The Musical.

We can’t wait to see what happens!
