When will Season 3 air?

Mark your calendars, you guys, because Season 3 will premiere on Netflix on August 23, 2019. That means you’ve got a few more weeks to binge watch Season 1 and 2.

How many episodes will Season 3 have?

There will be 13 episodes in total, and get this, you guys — similar to past seasons, all the episodes will become available on the same day! We seriously can’t wait.

Will the OG cast return of Season 3?

Dylan Minnette, Christian Navarro, Brandon Flynn, Justin Prentice, Miles Heizer, Devin Druid, Alisha Boe, Ross Butler, Timothy Granaderos, Anne Winters, Steven Weber, Brenda Strong and Amy Hargreaves will all be back for Season 3. But unfortunately, there’s one main star that isn’t returning this season — and that’s Katherine Langford. She revealed back in May that she was saying goodbye to the series once and for all.

“My journey on @13reasonswhy has officially come to an end,” she wrote on Instagram. “As most of you know, this was my first ever job and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to tell Hannah’s story so fully in Season 1, and to be asked back for a Season 2.”

There’s also been rumors that Riverdale star Hart Denton will make a guest appearance this season, after fans spotted his name on 13 Reason Why‘s IMDB page. There will also be a new actress joining the squad. Her name is Grace Saif and she’ll be playing a girl named Ani.

What will Season 3 be about?

According to Netflix, here’s a synopsis of the third season: “The secrets at Liberty High run deep, and in the aftermath of the Homecoming game all of the friends have something to hide. As the mystery of his death engulfs the town, there are numerous suspects in focus. But were any of them truly capable of murder? And who is the new girl? Police are determined to get to the truth, but with a web of secrets and lies this tangled, will anyone be found guilty?”

They also gave us a sneak peak of the upcoming season when they posted some voicemails that Justin Foley and Alex Standall left for Jessica Davis on Twitter. Based off the messages, it appears that there’s going to be a major love triangle between the three of them, and that Jess has gone missing! OMG. We cannot wait to see what goes down!

What has the cast said about Season 3?

And the cast and crew have already shared a ton of details about the upcoming season!

The shows creator, Brian Yorkey said at the Netflix FYC panel in June 2018, “What happened to Hannah [Baker] will always be the first clause of the story. The rest of the story is about young people, as so many young people, maybe all young people today [learn] how to heal from the things that have hurt them, to make the world that they want it to be, not just the world they are inheriting and above all, how to take care of each other.”

He also told Entertainment Weekly, “The loss of Hannah will continue to be the inciting traumatic event for this group of kids and parents. It will always be part of the story. But I don’t see a tremendous continued presence for Hannah because I think we needed her to finish telling everyone else’s side of her story and we needed her so that Clay [Jensen] could get to a point of saying, ‘I love you and I let you go’. If the story does continue, and certainly there is lots more to know about a lot of these characters, then the spotlight focus on Hannah Baker is probably done.”

Timothy told Radio Times that Season 3 will be a lot less controversial than previous seasons.

“[Season three is] not the same as the past two seasons. I don’t think you’ll be asking me the same questions about the two prior scenes. There are definitely scenes that are wild but I don’t think you’ll be asking if any scenes will need to be removed from Season 3,” he explained. “It’s absolutely a different thing. Right off the get-go you know it is a murder-mystery, the stakes are very high and everyone is a suspect. So, I think fans will be left questioning who they thought they were loyal to. It’s going to take off really quickly. Within the first episode or two you’re going to be engaged trying to put the mystery together. But I think that’s the fun of season three. It definitely feels like a different show.”

Anne revealed to Us Weekly that fans will uncover a brand new side of Bryce this season.

“I think you’re going to see a redeemable side to Bryce,” the actress said. ”No one deserves to die. No one deserves to be raped. No one deserves to go through a lot of the things that people go through on our show. You’ll see a lot of different sides to him.”

And she also confirmed that we’re definitely going to find out who killed him by the end of the third season.

“That’s what the whole season is about, and there’ll be an end to it,” she added.

Dylan revealed back in January 2019, that this season may be the best one yet.

Dylan also shared some of his ideas for Season 3 to Entertainment Weekly in June 2018.

“I’d be surprised if the story isn’t, like, immediately picked up where it left off,” he said. “I feel like the 13 Reasons Why fashion is there’s a time jump and we just put together the pieces of what happened in between. I don’t know, I’m not confirming, but that’s where I feel like it’s going.”

“I think that there’s a lot to be addressed with Clay,” he continued. “I think that [Clay’s mental health issues] is not fully recognized by himself or any of the characters surrounding him yet. And that’s exactly something I would love to see explored.”

And according to the actor, don’t expect Clay to get a new girlfriend any time soon.

“I think if there is potentially [a love interest], I think Clay would definitely, probably try to avoid it at this point,” he added. “I think, I imagine the last thing Clay is gonna want right now, given his past record so far, is a love interest. But, I think maybe he won’t be able to avoid it… we’ll see.”

“I feel like with season two, Clay was really carrying the weight of Hannah still, obviously, more than before, more than ever before, and now that that’s gone, I’m excited to see kind of Clay being a little wiser, a little more grown up, given everything that he’s gone through,” Dylan told the outlet. “Just seeing how he deals with this moving forward in his life and not having, not carrying the guilt and weight of Hannah anymore, and just seeing what new challenges await for him even that aren’t involving Hannah.”

The Wallows singer admitted that he’s nervous to see what happens to his character in Season 3.

“I think if anyone expects Clay to have an easy path in any season, we know we’re wrong. I think that season three is definitely not gonna be easy for Clay or any of these people and if it was, I don’t think we’d be the show anymore,” he concluded. “I’m nervous to know what Clay is gonna go through in Season 3.”

Chelsea Alden, who plays Mackenzie in the show, told Seventeen Magazine that there’s a possibility her character and Tyler Down could give their relationship another chance this season!

“I’d love to see Mack and Tyler try to start over. Maybe even just try to rebuild their friendship and trust, and hopefully that could build back into a relationship. But Tyler definitely has some things he needs to work on for himself, and I’d love to see Mackenzie just be there for him and help him through it,” she said.

While Timothy revealed that things aren’t looking good for his character, Monty de la Cruz, in Season 3.

“It’s hard to say what’ll happen to Monty. I think that sometimes in the real world, proper justice isn’t served. From a viewer’s perspective, I hope Monty gets what’s coming to him. From an actor’s perspective, I hope it takes a season’s worth of episodes for it to come,” he admitted.

And Anne has some interesting ideas the third season.

“Abortion should be a topic. I don’t know if [my character] should do it or not, I’m going to leave that up to the writers. But I think that it should definitely be discussed,” she told The Hollywood Reporter.

What happened at the end of Season 2?

The finale of Season 2 was pretty intense, if you ask us. In case you forgot, Tyler was assaulted by Monte and a few of his fellow jocks. In an attempt to get revenge, he brought a gun to school, but thankfully, Clay was able to talk him out of doing anything with it. As for Bryce, his girlfriend, Chloe Rice, revealed that she’s pregnant with their first child together, and he received three months probation for assaulting Hannah and Jessica.

How many more seasons will there be?

Unfortunately, according to The Hollywood Reporter, this is the second to last season of 13 Reasons Why. The outlet reported that there will be four seasons in total, and that the final season will focus on the core cast’s graduation from high school.

Have they filmed Season 3 yet?
