Between the show-stopping performances and the star-studded guest list, the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards was definitely a night to remember! Taylor Swift, the Jonas Brothers, Normani, Miley Cyrus, Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello, Tana Mongeau, James Charles, Asher Angel, Hailee Steinfeld, Halsey, Gigi and Bella Hadid and Lil Nas X were just a few of the celebrities who made an appearance, and they all seriously slayed the red carpet! But as epic as the evening was, we couldn’t help but notice that some of our favorite stars were M.I.A. Yep, a few of the biggest names in the music industry were no shows, and we’re over here wondering — why didn’t they show up? Was it because they had a prior commitment or did they decide not to go because they had beef with another star?
Take Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran, for example. They were both nominated for their duet, “I Don’t Care,” but they both skipped out on the awards show. What about Ariana Grande? She took home three awards throughout the evening, but she was no where to be found! And what about Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez? Where were they?
Well guys, we’ve got you covered. We decided to do some investigating, and it turns out, most of the stars had a pretty good reason for not attending the glamorous event. Scroll through our gallery to find out why your favorite star skipped the 2019 MTV VMAs.
