Is Ariel Winter OK?! Fans were left worried about the actress after she revealed that she had to be rushed to the hospital because she had sliced part of her finger off! OMG.
While speaking to Access on Wednesday, May 6, the 22-year-old recounted the horrifying story. She explained that she was trying to cook a new Greek recipe when the incident went down. While she was chopping tomatoes, the Modern Family star accidentally chopped the tip of her thumb right off!
“I had chopped four onions just before I chopped [my thumb]. Chopped four onions and it was great — I just got new knives too,” she recalled, while holding up her bandaged thumb to the camera. “So I went to chop a peeled tomato and sliced the top part of my thumb off on a peeled tomato.”
The red head beauty explained that she was talking to her boyfriend, Luke Benward, when it happened, and at first, they were in total shcok.
“I was so shocked,” she explained. “I was hyperventilating. I was like I should be crying but I just can’t believe it. I apparently sliced an artery. It bled so much.”
Ariel revealed that the two went to the hospital, and get this — Luke even brought the tip of her thumb with them! But while being treated at the emergency room, Ariel told the outlet that the nurse, “gave [the piece of the thumb] to me in a plastic bag, and didn’t tell me that it was the tip of my thumb, so I accidentally threw it away and we had to go get it.”
Wow, this just keeps getting worse and worse! Although it “definitely hurt and wasn’t fun,” thankfully, Ariel is OK now and the whole situation definitely put things into perspective for her.
“Obviously I was bleeding a lot but again it’s my thumb. Like so many people are in [the hospital] for so much worse and I was like, you know, I was perfectly fine,” she concluded. “During all this, this is the least of anyone’s worries at all. I sliced my thumb off and it’s sad, I’ll have a mildly sad-looking thumb, but it’ll be okay.”
