We’ve got some pretty sad news, you guys. It’s time to say goodbye to Ashleigh Murray on RiverdaleThat’s right, Josie McCoy — the super sassy and talented lead singer of Josie and the Pussycats — is leaving the epic CW show.

But don’t worry! Although we’re pretty heartbroken that we will no longer see her interacting with the fab four (Archie Andrews, Jughead Jones, Betty Cooper and Veronica Lodge) — it’s not the end of Josie! Get this: she’s actually leaving the show to star in Riverdale‘s new spinoff series, Katy Keene! SCREAMING.

In case you missed it, after the wild success of The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina, the CW announced it was making another spinoff series last month. But what will Katy Keene be about, you ask? Well, fans of the OG Archie comics know that Katy was an actress, singer and model. After becoming widely popular, she eventually got her own story. And just like the comic, the show will follow Katy and her friends as they travel to New York City and try “to make it on Broadway, on the runway and in the recording studio,” according to Variety.

And the best part? The new series is going to be a musical dramedy. Um, we all know how epic the musical episode of Riverdale was, so a whole season with songs is just bound to be amazing.

Naturally, when the news hit the web about the new show, everyone quickly started wondering if any of the Riverdale characters will make the crossover. Guess we finally have our answer, and we honestly couldn’t be more excited! We mean, since Josie is an aspiring (and super talented) singer on Riverdale, she’s a perfect fit for the new show.

Deadline reports that in the new show, “Josie sets off on a new adventure to make it in the big city. More determined than ever to break into the music scene as the next Diana Ross, Josie finds herself forging new friendships, falling into new relationships, and, one day, becoming the star she is destined to be.”

Executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa also confirmed the news. “The truth is, Josie’s been destined for New York from #Riverdale’s pilot episode,” he wrote on Instagram. “So honored and happy we get to pursue Josie’s musical dreams with this lovely lady.”

Wow, we seriously cannot wait to see Josie take on the big city! We wonder if any of her high school friends will come visit her?
