The mother of late actor Cameron Boyce broke her silence two weeks after her son’s tragic death.
Libby Boyce took to Instagram on July 20 to post a black-and-white photo of the two together. “He is my compass,” she captioned the post.
The Disney Channel star unfortunately passed away on July 6, 2019, after suffering a seizure in his sleep. He was only 20 years old. A spokesperson for his family confirmed days later that the star suffered from epilepsy.
“Cameron’s tragic passing was due to a seizure as a result of an ongoing medical condition, and that condition was epilepsy,” they confirmed to E! News. “We are still trying to navigate our way through this extremely heart-wrenching time, and continue to ask for privacy so that the family and all who knew and loved him can grieve his loss and make arrangements for his funeral — which, in and of itself, is agonizing.”
After the sad passing of the Jessie and Descendants actor, his family launched a new foundation in his honor. According to the official website, The Cameron Boyce Foundation “provides young people artistic and creative outlets as alternatives to violence and negativity and uses resources and philanthropy for positive change in the world.”
While Descendants 3 is still set to air on August 2 (its original premiere date), Disney Channel decided to cancel the big red carpet event and donate to one of the actor’s favorite charities instead.
“We’re proud to be part of Cameron Boyce’s legacy by showcasing his talents on screen but we are canceling the red carpet premiere event for Descendants 3 scheduled for July 22 and instead, The Walt Disney Company will make a donation to the Thirst Project, a philanthropic organization to which Cameron was deeply committed,” the network said in a statement on July 11. “Thank you for your understanding.”
There’s absolutely no doubt that Cameron made such a lasting impression on many people, and he will always be remembered for his positive impact on the world.
