Once Magcon ended, Cameron Dallas threw everything he had into building a solo career. In addition to maintaining his following, he wanted to expand beyond social media and make a name for himself in a bunch of other areas of entertainment as well. Now that he’s built a successful brand, the social media star is sharing some tips with J-14 about managing multiple jobs at once and conquering fears.

Honestly, we don’t know how the 24-year-old does it all, but somehow, he’s managed to dip his feet into several different industries. And even though it sounds difficult to be involved in modeling, acting, social media and music all at once, he actually shared some super helpful advice for those who want to follow a similar path.

The first tip? “Get a dog.” OK, we’re sold.

On a more serious note, Cameron said you really need to be able to manage your schedule so that you don’t overdo it in a single day.

“Be able to balance your time,” he said. “It’s easy to do so much that you feel like you need 80 hours in a day to get everything done.” LBR, we’ve all been there.

In addition to getting a dog and developing your time management skills, the former Vine star also stressed the importance of surrounding yourself with good people who only want to see you grow.

“Have a great team around you,” he said. “People who believe in you are the most important part of getting any project done.” So true!

Obviously, those are some really useful tips — especially if you’re trying to take on multiple projects simultaneously. And if this sounds at all like you, you’re probably also wondering when the right time is to make the change and dive into a new project head first.

As you may already know, Cameron himself crossed over from the social media world to the music biz, and although he can only speak from his own personal experience, he thinks people will ultimately have to figure out when they’re truly ready.

“They have to decide that for themselves,” he shared. “But for me, it was something that I’ve loved from the beginning and social media lost what had made it fun, so I started working on music.” How interesting!

He also admitted that music wasn’t something that he was always good at. In fact, he had to practice a lot to get to the point where he felt comfortable pursuing it as a career. In other words, don’t give up on something just because you’re not an expert at it.

“Growing up, I was always nervous to sing and was even told I didn’t have a good singing voice,” he revealed.

In hindsight, he doesn’t regret conquering his fear of pursuing music, but he did say that success can definitely be a scary thing. Luckily, he has a mantra that helps him get through the fear.

“Getting successful can be scary, there are parts of getting to success that aren’t fun. You just have to do it. One of the vocal coaches who I work with always says this thing that goes, ‘If there’s no enemy within, the enemy outside can’t hurt me.’ And I really like that.”

We know what you’re thinking: How does Cameron keep it so positive? Well, for starters, he’s clearly learned a ton from his own experiences, but it’s also true that he has bad days just like the rest of us.

“There are ups and downs in my life like everyone else’s,” he admitted. “I have my moments, too.”
