It looks like Charli D’Amelio is completely unbothered after her lookalike Ellie Zeiler was accused of throwing shade towards her. Yep, while chatting with photographers on Monday, June 22, the TikTok star addressed the entire situation.
“There are a lot of people that look [like me]. I see people all the time that look like me,” Charli explained. “I don’t like that different so I’m not that surprised. It is what it is. I haven’t seen anything on that.”
It looks like there’s no bad blood between them after all!
“We have a very basic look,” Charli’s sister, Dixie D’Amelio, added. “Honestly, I think we have a very basic look. We have brown hair and brown eyes. Like, I see TikToks all day. Everyone — ‘Oh my god, you look like Charli!’ … It’s chill.”
For those who missed it, the drama first started after Ryan Clements seemingly insinuated that Charli was better than Ellie in a comment on Instagram. He wrote “Charli” with a greater than symbol on one of Ellie’s posts.
But when Ellie fired back and said, “But who is that?” some people speculated that she was talking about Charli. But according to screenshots posted on the Instagram account TikTok room, Ellie replied to a fan and set the record straight once and for all.
“I said, ‘Who is that’ to the guy that made fun of me. No disrespect towards Charli at all,” the 16-year-old explained.
Then, she cleared up the situation during an Instagram Live.
“Ryan started this with me and of course I’m going to defend myself,” Ellie told followers. “I said, ‘Who is that,’ talking about Ryan. I was not talking about Charli.”
Previously, the social media star slammed fans who claimed she was trying to copy Charli.
“Maybe when [you] have [your] own identity, it’ll be better sis,” one person wrote on one of her TikTok videos, to which Ellie replied, “Awe, I have my own identity. Good luck with that bad attitude, sis.”
Another person pointed out, “[You] look like Charli, but [you] don’t dance like Charli.”
She fired back, “Probably because I’m Ellie!”
