According to a press release from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Ink Master‘s Daniel Silva has been sentenced to 364 days in jail, five years of formal probation, 250 hours of community service and a suspended prison sentence of four years after the death of YouTuber Corey La Barrie.

“Daniel Joseph Silva of North Hollywood entered a no contest plea last month to one felony count of gross vehicular manslaughter. A suspended sentence may be imposed if a defendant violates the terms of his probation,” the press release reads.

As fans know, the beloved social media star was killed in a car crash on May 10, 2020. According to People Magazine, the fatal accident occurred just after 9:30 P.M. in the Valley Village area of Los Angeles, when “a 2020 McLaren 600LT was traveling eastbound on Huston Street at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control. Driver then ran off the road and collided with a stop sign and a tree on the northeast corner of Huston Street and Carpenter Avenue.” Corey was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, the police said. It was reported that Daniel, who was driving the car, was intoxicated during the time of the crash.

One of Corey’s close friends, Oscar Guerra, spoke out about the situation after the sentencing.

“Not only did you ruin your life, but you took a life and ruined and caused trauma for many other lives… A son, a brother, a best friend, a person millions of people looked up to every single day… We are now left with a sole memory of Corey,” he wrote. “Everyone who was there, including myself, tried stopping you from driving. I was outside of the car on the street telling you to get out of the car while you looked at me and sped off. While my best friend was coughing up blood you tried to run away and I caught you. All of this happened because you wanted to show off your materialistic lifestyle that doesn’t mean anything when it’s all said and done… Every single night that’s all I or anyone else can think about… I don’t believe anyone at any age should experience the things you’ve carelessly made us experience.”

After his tragic passing, Why Don’t We star Daniel Seavey opened up about how he pulled Corey out of the car after the accident and held him until paramedics arrived. In a touching tribute, the singer spoke out about his last moments with the social media star.

“I’ll never forget pulling you out of that car. For a little bit it felt like such a curse seeing you in the condition you were in that night. But what a blessing,” he wrote. “I got to see you one last time. And I know you heard me there beside you. I know that you know I love you, and for that I’m grateful. I’m just so blessed to have known you. Thank you for everything you did for me Corey. All the ways you helped me. I’ll never forget any of it.”

I’ll never forget the night we met, where 5 minutes into our conversation you roasted me, then suggested we get breakfast the next day and then we actually did.. I’ll never forget how you could make anyone in the room laugh especially me. I’ll never forget how ready you were at all times to beat anyone up that even laid a finger on me. I’ll never forget our trip to Hawaii. I’ll never forget how much you didn’t care about what people thought of you and how much you inspired me to do the same. I’ll never forget how much you secretly wanted to be a singer and would always come to me for singing advice, you had some pipes bro. I’ll never forget how many people you introduced me to when I felt more lonely and more left out than I ever have in my life. I’ll never forget the example you showed me of loyalty and love that you endlessly and tirelessly gave to all your friends and family. I’ll never forget the light you had in you that could brighten up any situation,  any room, any person. I’ll never forget pulling you out of that car. For a little bit it felt like such a curse seeing you in the condition you were in that night. But what a blessing. I got to see you one last time. And I know you heard me there beside you. I know that you know I love you, and for that I’m grateful. I’m just so blessed to have known you. Thank you for everything you did for me Corey. All the ways you helped me. I’ll never forget any of it.

Daniel’s dad, Jeffrey, also took to Twitter to explain what happened that night. He revealed that Daniel’s brother, Chris, was also there and that he seemingly helped stop Daniel from fleeing the scene.

“It was @Seavey_Chris who tackled the driver as he attempted to flee the scene, while his brother @SeaveyDaniel pulled Corey from the wreckage and held him, spoke comfort to him and prayed for him until the paramedics arrived. LOVE MY SONS,” he tweeted.

Rest in Peace, Corey.
