The moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally here! That’s right, you guys. Disney has just revealed who they’ve chosen for the role of Ariel in their upcoming live-action remake of the animated classic The Little Mermaid. Drum roll please… the one and only Halle Bailey has been cast as the iconic mermaid, and we couldn’t be more excited.

“After an extensive search, it was abundantly clear that Halle possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence, and substance — plus a glorious singing voice — all intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role,” director Rob Marshall said in a statement.

The 19-year-old also took to Twitter to gush over the exciting news.

“Dream come true,” she wrote.

So who exactly is the actress? Well, you probably recognize her from her role as Sky Forster in Grown-ish. She’s also part of musical duo Chloe x Halle alongside her sister, Chloe. With her amazing singing voice and her epic acting skills, we know she’s going to make an amazing princess!

ICYMI, there have been rumors going around for months that former Shake it Up actress Zendaya was going to star as the mermaid, and she couldn’t be happier for Halle. She took to Twitter to congratulate the singer on the role.

“Yeeeeessss!! Here for thiiiissss!! @chloexhalle,” she wrote.

As for the role of Flounder, there’s been a ton of rumors circulating that Jacob Tremblay may star as the fish! It’s also been rumored that Melissa McCarthy will play Ursula in the upcoming flick, and that Awkwafina will act as Scuttle, the hilarious seagull. There’s also been talk that Lizzo may play the evil witch, after she uploaded a video on Twitter singing “Poor Unfortunate Souls” decked in the villain’s full costume.

“I’M URSULA. PERIOD,” she wrote.

But what about Prince Eric, you ask? Well, Disney has stayed pretty tight lipped about who they’ve chosen for the handsome prince. But we all pretty much lost it last month when rumors started spreading that they were looking at Noah Centineo and Harry Styles! SCREAMING.

It’s seriously going to be a dream come true to see the animated flick come to life, especially with such an amazing cast.
