Can we get a show of hands — is anyone else obsessed with Harry Styles‘ epic sense of style? We know we are. We mean, the One Direction singer is always pushing the boundaries when it comes to his clothes. From bright and colorful outfits to sparkly and lace suits, the “Sign Of the Times” crooner can seriously rock anything.
Well guys, Harry just opened up about what gave him the confidence to start wearing such drastic looks. It turns out, it all started back in 2015, when he decided to wear a flared suit to a red carpet event.
“I had never really done flares before,” the 25-year-old recalled to Dazed Magazine. “And it was really fun. I just kind of started wearing more and more of it, and at the same time just becoming a lot more comfortable in myself.”
And looking up to some of his musical inspirations really helped him fall in love with fashion.
“I used to wear all black all of the time,” he continued. “But I was realizing [dressing up] was a part of the show, if you will. Especially when performing. So, I think [for] the people I have always admired and looked up to in music, clothes have always been a big part of the thing. Like [David] Bowie, Elvis Presley. It’s always been part of the thing.”
“I love the clothes,” the 1D heartthrob added. “That helps a lot. Just going on stage in a nuts suit with a bunch of sequins makes you feel good, and then you want to play.”
Harry also credits a lot of his confidence with his friends.
“I definitely feel lucky to be in a group of people, working-wise, and friend-wise, where they are very free-thinking,” he told the outlet. “Everyone is open to be themselves and it’s made me feel me feel more comfortable to try different things and have a bit more fun.”
We are seriously living for his looks and we can’t wait to see what he wears next!
