Do you hear that sound? Sorry, it’s just us weeping after finding out that Lizzie and Gordo aren’t together in the upcoming Lizzie McGuire reboot. That’s right, fam. Hilary Duff confirmed it herself, and we don’t know how to feel right now.

While speaking to Vulture, the 31-year-old Disney Channel alum confirmed that, no, the guy her character is engaged to in the show isn’t Gordo. And while we’re super upset about this, she seems to be fine with it all.

“Ah! I feel like them not being together is what was so good,” she said. “It’s that one person that you’re like, Was he the one? Is it ever going to be? You’re always kind of wondering. We wanted it to hurt everyone a little bit, and it’ll continue to hurt. I really hope he’s going to be involved. We’ve been planning out the season and coming up with what everything looks like, and it’s so important for him to be there for part of it.”

It’s hard to believe it’s been over 15 whole years since we saw Hilary play the iconic character of Lizzie. Now, in the upcoming Disney+ sequel series, we’re going to get to see her in a whole new era of life. The show will follow Lizzie in her 30s, as she is living in New York and working as an apprentice to an interior designer.

Hilary opened up about where Lizzie is in life at the D3 Expo on August 23.

“Lizzie has grown up — she’s older, she’s wiser, she has a much bigger shoe budget,”  she said at the event. “She has her dream job, the perfect life right now working as an apprentice to a fancy New York City decorator, the perfect man who owns a fancy restaurant. She’s getting ready to celebrate her 30th birthday.”

We can’t wait to see what’s in store!
