YouTuber James Charles is setting the record straight. On Wednesday, December 4, the 20-year-old took to Twitter and slammed accusations that he labels himself as “female” on the dating app Tinder in order to match with straight men.

It all started earlier this week when some fans took to Twitter and called out the social media star after they swiped on the app and allegedly saw his profile classified as female. Then, fellow YouTuber Dustin Dailey seemingly called out the makeup artist in an untagged tweet which said, “If you identify as a gay man do not set your tinder settings to female for straight men to find you.”

James was quick to respond to Dustin’s accusation. In a series of tweets, he denied the accusations and listed out six examples of why it was untrue.

“I’m so sick of people talking about this. 1. My identity on dating apps was listed as ‘androgynous’ – someone who expresses themselves in both feminine & masculine ways. NOT a female to “trick” anyone,” he started. “2. Every time someone said they were straight, I unmatched right away.”

He told followers that “‘curious’ men use feminine gays as an outlet to experiment” and said that he has since stopped himself from taking part.

“I’ve [gone] on many awesome dates with either gay, bisexual or closeted men over the last 6 months. I have gone on 0 dates with ‘straight men’ — LITERALLY EVER,” he said before revealing that he has since deleted all dating apps off his phone.

“I’m single and looking for love just like everyone else,” he continued in another set of tweets before urging critics to leave him alone. “I mind my own business and am extremely careful with who I talk to, but people take advantage of me and continue to spread bulls**t like this around and it is SO frustrating and makes dating impossible.”

As fans know, James was first accused of “manipulating straight men” back in May when Tati Westbrook posted a lengthy video titled “BYE SISTER” to her YouTube channel. When another Twitter user told the social media star to “let it go” James defended himself and explained that he’s been labeled a predator for the past seven months.

“No Maggie, it’s been 7 months and people clearly have NOT let it go so I have a right to stand up for myself when I’m being labeled as a predator,” he said before signing off from the site.
