If we’re being honest here, Justin Bieber‘s had his fair share of run-ins with the law, and it seems like those days might not be over. The “Sorry” singer was just questioned by police, but this time, he didn’t commit a crime at all. In fact, the whole story is actually kind of funny.

The 25-year-old hit up his Instagram Stories on Wednesday, March 27, to explain what exactly went down, and it all started when the pop star stepped out in a pair of Nike sneakers created by fashion designer Virgil Abloh. You see, that particular pair of shoes includes a tag attached to its laces, and although the tag is there for fashion purposes, a cop understandably assumed it was a security tag.

NGL, we can totally understand how someone would make that mistake. There’s no denying the tag looks like one that’s supposed to be removed upon purchase. Plus. we’re pretty sure the “No Brainer” crooner can afford a pair of Nike sneaks. Let’s not forget: He is a millionaire.

Luckily, JB had a pretty great sense of humor about the whole thing, but he did let the designer know that the shoes got him into a bit of a jam with police.

“Virgil. My God, bro. You’re killing me, man,” Justin said in his Instagram Stories. “I just had a cop come up to me and ask me why I still have the security tag on my shoe… I had to tell him, bro, ‘It’s just fashion. I don’t know.’ He was like, ‘It sure looks like a security tag.’ I was like, ‘Nah, bro. You can check it out… it looks like it, though.’ You’re getting me in trouble.”

Well, there you have it, folks! Justin was merely expressing himself through fashion and most definitely did NOT steal the sneaks. What a hilarious misunderstanding!
