We are all super excited about Lana Condor‘s new TV show, Deadly Class, especially because it means we’re going to see the actress like we’ve never seen her before. The new SYFY show aired on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, and boy was it intense. The action-filled series is actually based off a comic book and it focuses on a teenager that was recruited into a high school for assassins. Yep, you heard us right — assassins. That means katanas, fighting, and everything else that comes along with being an executioner.
And, get this guys — we just found out that Lana actually did a ton of her own stunts for the show, which led to a lot of injuries on set. Her co-star in the show, María Gabriela de Faría just opened up to SYFY Wire about how dangerous it was, and she even revealed that the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before star got a concussion during the taping! Um, ouch.
And that’s not the only injury Lana got on-set.
“Lana’s katana was on the floor and we tripped and fell,” Maria told the outlet. And apart from hurting herself multiple times, the 21-year-old was also the culprit for some of her co-stars injuries too.
“Lana once cut my pinky with her katana,” Maria continued. “She was really into the fight — and she’s always so careful, but this time, I don’t know what got into her! She was so into the fight and I was actually scared. I had to pretend to be really mad [in the scene] and I’m like, ‘Oh my God!’ But she hurt my pinky really bad. It bled so much and was hurt for weeks.”
Wow, that sounds horrifying. We are so glad they’re both OK! Lana recently explained to E! News about why she wanted to star in something so different than what we’re all used to seeing her in.
“I think that’s something that I really wanted to do, to be able to crossover all genres and to be able to pick different roles so that people can see me in a different light,” she told the outlet. “But, yeah, Lara Jean, I gotta say, I don’t think she’d survive in Kings Dominion, but neither would Saya in a dress like Lara Jean is always in. They’re polar opposites, there truly is no similarities whatsoever…They’re girls, and they’re OK with being on their own, that’s it.”
Well, we’re so proud of Lana for stepping out of her comfort zone and we can’t wait to watch the rest of the show.
