As avid Riverdale watchers know, the show’s fourth season has focused on Betty, Veronica and the gang as they think about college and finish out senior year. Now that the current season is already halfway over, fans have started to wonder if there will be a season five.
Will everyone stay in town? What’s going to happen after senior year? According to the show’s stars, Lili Reinhart and Camila Mendes, as graduation approaches, things are definitely about to change.
“I’m pretty sure the kids will have graduated, so as far as where it goes from here, I don’t know. I think there’s opportunities for the kids to leave Riverdale, but there’s also opportunities for them to stay and I think there’s a lot of unfinished business for a lot of them,” Lili told ET. Camila added, “I don’t want the kids to be in high school forever. I think Riverdale is very much a show about the cycle of life, and things growing up, and all of that. So I think it’d be really cool to see them go off to college and grow up and see what they make out of their lives.”
As for Betty specifically, Lili, 23, thinks she will most definitely be staying in town for a while.
“I think Betty probably wants to stay close to her mom, at least for a little while,” she said. “They’ve got some stuff to figure out. I feel like they’re all gonna take a break year — a gap year — and just chill for a minute.”
What about Veronica? Well, Lili also suspects that the raven-haired beauty will also stay close to Riverdale.
“It seems like they might all feel the need to stay and take care of things with their family or their businesses,” she said. “You know, obviously, Veronica has, like, 12 businesses that she’s running.”
For those who don’t know, Riverdale‘s last episode of 2019 aired on Wednesday, December 11. Not only did the midseason finale answer some major questions, but it brought up new ones that will hopefully be answered when the show returns on Wednesday, January 22.
