If you consider yourself a diehard Miley Cyrus or Shawn Mendes fan, get ready. Why? Because reports claim that the 26-year-old singer and the “In My Blood” crooner are finishing up a new single. Say whaaat?!
That’s right, you guys! The pop stars allegedly have a collaboration coming, and sources say it’ll drop in the next few weeks. It’s also being said that the track will be included on the “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” crooner’s next album. And while this is the first we’ve heard of actual reports, fans have been speculating that these two talented artists have been working on something together for a while. We mean, just a few weeks ago, Miley basically confirmed it herself via Instagram.
So, how did it all start? Well, when a fan Instagram account posted a side-by-side photo of the two pop stars, they made mention of the rumors that the “Lost in Japan” crooner might be featured on MiCy’s next project.
They wrote, “According to some rumors, Shawn Mendes will be part of Miley’s new album. I am Mendes Army and it would be one of my biggest dreams come true.” TBH, same.
This is where things get interesting. Once Miley saw the post herself, she threw it a like and even commented on it with a heart. Need proof? Take a look:
Of course, once fans saw that the former Disney star liked and commented on the post, it was set ablaze with excited fans dying to know more.
One fan wrote, “OMFG that would be iconic,” and another echoed all of our thoughts by writing, “I’M INTERNALLY SCREAMING.” In other words, it’s safe to say that members of both fanbases are here for this potential collaboration, and just in case you were wondering, so are we.
Honestly, that’s pretty much all the confirmation we need to be fully convinced that the “Malibu” singer and the 20-year-old heartthrob have been cooking up something amazing in the studio. In case you need some more evidence to be fully convinced, though, the singer shared some photos from backstage at Grammy rehearsals, and she seems to be seated awfully close to Shawn’s equipment. If you look really close at the second photo, you can even see that one piece of equipment is labeled with his name. Hmm…
Well, we guess we’ll just have to wait until Grammy night to see what’s going on with these two. Who knows? Maybe they’ll debut a collaboration live on stage. Here’s to hoping!
