Grab your headphones because Selena Gomez just dropped her first song since returning from rehab. The new tune is called “Anxiety” and is featured on Julia Michaels’ new EP, Inner Monologues Part 1. And trust us, it’s most definitely a total bop.

But although it’s super catchy, the song is also really emotional. “Anxiety” is all about how the mental illness can effect your relationships, and the ladies sing about how they feel like people don’t understand what it’s really like to go through it. As J-14 readers know, this definitely hits close to home for the “Back To You” songstress, who has pretty open about her struggles with anxiety and depression over the years. Selena has even sought treatment for it multiple times, and we couldn’t be more proud of her.

Selena took to Instagram to share how much the songs means to her in a heartfelt post. “My sweet soul sister. Julia you have been a huge part of my life. You have taught me how to have courage when I have self doubt. This song is extremely close to my heart as I’ve experienced anxiety and know a lot of my friends do too. You’re never alone if you feel this way. The message is much needed and I really hope you guys like it!” she wrote.

“But all my friends they don’t know, what it’s like, what it’s like. They don’t understand why, I can’t sleep through the night,” Julia and Selena sing in the emotional new song.

Seeing the ladies be so real about their struggles is honestly so inspiring. “I’ve always wanted to be one of those people in the room that says something and everyone puts their hand up,” Selena continues. “Like, if you’re sad, put your hand up. If you hate someone, put your hand up. If you’re scared, put your hand up.”

And get this — if you listen closely, you may notice that there’s some possible shade towards her ex Justin Bieber in the song! “Feel like I’m always apologizing for feeling like I’m out of my mind when I’m doing just fine,” the Wizards Of Waverly Place star sings. “And my exes will say that I’m hard to deal with and I admit it, it’s true.”

The 26-year-old could totally be referring to the “Love Yourself” singer since they dated on and off for years before he married Hailey Baldwin. But hey, it could also be about The Weeknd, who dated Selena for 10 months back in 2017.

BRB, going to listen to it on repeat.
