A bunch of celebrities were tricked into thinking that Italians in quarantine were singing their songs, and the internet is definitely not happy about it.

For those who missed it, Italy has been in full lockdown due to the rapid spread of the coronavirus, but being forced to stay indoors hasn’t gotten the residents down! Entire streets have banded together to make the situation a little less bleak, and their actions are making everyone’s hearts burst.

Videos of Italians who are stuck inside their houses standing on their balconies and singing songs together have made their way around the internet. Some have even caught the attention of the artists who wrote the songs, including Katy Perry, Madonna, Shawn Mendes and Cheryl Cole.

But it turns out, a few of the videos were actually faked. Yep, some Twitter users saw this as an opportunity to promote their favorite artists’ music, and they edited the real videos with audio from a concert of another artist to make it sound like the Italians were singing their song, but in reality, that wasn’t the case.

If fans look closely, they’ll notice that almost all the videos are exactly the same, but with different music dubbed over them. Yeah, definitely not cool.

For those who missed it, the World Health Organization has reported that more than 170,000 people have contracted virus so far, resulting in more than 6,000 deaths. Medical professionals have called for “social distancing” to prevent further spreading of the illness, which is defined as “trying to keep yourself away from other people, especially large crowds.”

Because of this, many concerts, events and festivals have been canceledMiley CyrusLouis TomlinsonJoJo SiwaBillie EilishBTSAlly BrookeNiall HoranSelena GomezJeffree StarMeg Donnelly and more are among those who were forced to cancel their shows due to concerns over the disease.
