It’s officially been more than six years since thew first The Maze Runner film — based off the novel of the same name by James Dashner — premiered back in September 2014. Wow, time has seriously flown by!

The movie starred Dylan O’Brien as Thomas, a boy who arrived in the middle of a maze with no memory of how he got there. After the only girl allowed in the labyrinth, Theresa (played by Kaya Scodelario), joined the crew, Thomas and the rest of the boys attempted to escape and find out the truth about why they were there in the first place. Thomas Brodie-SangsterAml Ameen, Ki Hong Lee and Will Poulter also appeared in the film as members of the Gladers and friends to Thomas.

As fans know, while filming the third movie — The Maze Runner: The Death Cure — in March 2016, Dylan suffered an injury that he told The Salt Lake Tribune in September 2017, “broke most of the right side of my face.” After a brief stint out of the spotlight, the actor opened up about how the accident changed his life during an October 2020 episode of the “Big Ticket” podcast. He said the entire experience, and similar experiences, “absolutely completely rewires and restructures the way you see your life and what you deem important.”

Dylan added, “Whenever I’m putting on a rig, I’m vetting every piece of that rig and much more. Even to this day, if I’m on set and I’m doing a stunt, if I’m in a rig, if there’s some action going on, I am slightly irritable. There is a degree of anxiety in me that I don’t think there’s ever not going to be.”

Now that Dylan is officially back in the acting game, what has he and the rest of The Maze Runner cast been up to since the first movie’s premiere? They’ve all accomplished a lot over the last few years. Scroll through our gallery to find out what the cast of The Maze Runner is up to now.
