Remember the coming-of-age film Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging? The British flick totally had a moment after its 2008 premiere!
Starring Georgia Groome, the movie followed the story of 14-year-old Georgia Nicolson who wants nothing more than to get a boyfriend. On the first day of the new school year, she spots a new student named Robbie Jennings (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and instantly falls in love. While attempting to date Robbie, the teen finds out that he’s already in a relationship with the most popular girl in school. So, naturally, Georgia comes up with a plan to steal him away. Upon finding out that Robbie loves cats, she pretends that her cat named Angus went missing. Eventually, Georgia and Robbie share a kiss and end up admitting their feelings for each other.
Since the movie was released, it’s become a cult classic among teens. Although the actors have all since grown up and continued their acting careers, Georgia and Aaron will always be Georgia and Robbie to fans.
Similar to how the character of Georgia found love in the movie, the actress Georgia has also found love in real life. She’s in a long-term relationship with fellow actor Rupert Grint, who fans may know from the Harry Potter franchise. Although the two have kept their relationship mainly out of the public eye, they have been together since 2011. Rupert spoke to Glamour in January 2021 about their romance.
“It’s a very natural thing — we’re just best friends. We’re kind of the same person; we think the same way,” the actor explained. “That’s always made it work — that’s why it’s lasted. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what it is, but it works and it’s great.”
Georgia and Rupert welcomed a daughter named Wednesday in May 2020.
“I feel like I’ve changed as a person for sure. It kind of happened overnight, lifestyle-wise,” he told the magazine about being a first-time dad. “It’s interesting, experiencing it all during a pandemic. I think it’s made the whole experience even more intense and insular. It’s just been us, working it out in a house. I feel a lot more — I don’t know, weirdly relaxed. It’s been a very calming process for me. Obviously, there are days when she is FULL on. But there’s something really nice about the routine. It’s got me in a good place, I think.”
