It’s official — Rupert Grint is a father! That’s right, the Harry Potter star and his girlfriend, Georgia Groome, just announced that they have welcomed their first child together, and fans couldn’t be happier for them.

The actor, who played Ron Weasley in the magical series, confirmed that the Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging star had given birth to a baby girl on May 7, 2020.

“Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome are delighted to confirm the birth of their baby girl,” his rep told People Magazine in a statement. “We would please ask that you respect their privacy at this very special time.”

For those who missed it, the two stars first shared the exciting news that they were expecting on April 10, 2020, after photos surfaced online of the actress with a baby bump.

“Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome are excited to announce they are expecting a baby,” the couple’s publicist told InTouch at the time. “[They] would please ask for privacy at this time.”

Rupert and Georgia first started dating all the way back in 2011, but they have kept their romance pretty private since then. In fact, most fans only found out about the high profile relationship in November 2018, when a snap of the two stars cuddling up went viral.

Back in December 2018, the 31-year-old opened up about possibly starting a family with his longtime love.

“Turning 30 felt strange. It just doesn’t feel like I’m there yet, and I don’t know what the future holds. I’m just going to go with the flow, keep playing interesting characters and see what happens. I’d like to settle down and have kids soon,” he told The Guardian, before brainstorming possible baby names. “If I had a son, would I call him Ron? It’s quite a good name, but probably not. And Grint’s a tough name to pair a one-syllable first name with.”
