Just days after Stephenie Meyer released a new Twilight book called Midnight Sun, the author has announced that she has plans to write two more books for the series!

“There are two more books I think in the world [of Twilight] that I want to write,” the 47-year-old revealed during an online event. “I have got them outlined and a chapter written I think of the first one, so I know it’s there.”

But she added, “I am not ready to do that right now. I want to do something brand new.”

So it sounds like somewhere down the line, we will get some new additions to the Twilight series, but not yet.

For those who missed it, Midnight Sun came out on August 4, 2020, and it retold the original Twilight book but from Edward’s point of view instead of Bella’s. And get this — it sold one million copies during its first week.

Midnight Sun has a darker tone because it comes from the perspective of someone who knows this romance is doomed before it starts. Bella is very hopeful. She is falling in love for the first time and she never admits to any real obstacles. Edward is also falling in love for the first time, but he is one hundred percent positive that this love story can only end in tragedy,” the author previously explained to Seventeen. “He gets to be hopeful for something like three chapters out of thirty. So, only ten percent happiness versus ninety percent dread.”

But are they going to turn it into a movie like the other stories, you ask? Well, the films’ director, Catherine Hardwicke, told Entertainment Tonight, “[It] would be fun. It would be fascinating,” when asked about the possibility of getting the cast back together for a new flick.

As fans know, the OG movie came out in November 2008, and starred Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. But as much as she wants them to reprise their roles, Catherine doesn’t know if it’s possible.

“Rob is Batman now… And Kristen is in a million beautiful projects,” she continued. “Who knows what would happen.”
