If you thought Bella Thorne would never address her open relationship with Mod Sun and Tana Mongeau ever again, you thought wrong. The 21-year-old is on the February cover of Gay Times and she wants us all to know that she’s over people not understanding how bisexuality works.

“In this world, it’s like you’re either gay or you’re straight; there’s no in between,” she told the mag. “It’s not a gay or straight box. It’s this middle in-between world that nobody can put in a box, which makes them so mad. People are so mad that they can’t put it in a box, can’t explain it and can’t see how it works that they hate on it.”

This topic is personal for the Midnight Sun actress. She came out as bisexual on Twitter back in 2016, and ever since she’s been very vocal about biphobia and the criticism she’s faced regarding her own personal relationships.

In Hollywood, Bella said she’s experienced her fair share of biphobia. For example, right after she came out, someone canceled her audition.

“It’s not like anybody comes up to you and says, ‘Well, you’re gay so I’m not going to hire you.’ I haven’t had that,” she said. “But you can just tell by the way that people act differently around you, the way they treat you differently, the way that they look at you or the way that they tip toe around certain subjects because they’re walking on eggshells.”

Bella’s career hasn’t been the only aspect of her life affected by biphobia, though. Her relationships with the musician and YouTube star, for example, have received a ton of criticism from people who simply do not understand how she could be dating a man and a woman simultaneously. Ultimately, though, she doesn’t think anyone will truly be able to understand their unique connection.

“I don’t think anybody will really understand the bonds that I share with Mod or Tana,” she told Gay Times. Yeah, we joke around about poly, but we aren’t in the sense that we don’t put a word, a box or label on too many things. It is what it is.”

We don’t know about you, but we can’t wait for this issue of Gay Times to drop so we can read more about Bella’s experience. The mag hits stands on January 31, so you should definitely be on the lookout.
