After months of anticipation, the third season of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is finally here, and in honor of the premiere, Lucy Davis teamed up with PETA and spilled some on-set secrets exclusively to J-14. The actress, who plays Aunt Hilda in the epic Netflix series, got real about what it’s like being a vegan while filming the show.
The 46-year-old explained that the writers of the Riverdale spinoff really took her vegan lifestyle into consideration, and she was really grateful for that.
“We had some episodes where my sister Zelda talks of wanting to eat long pig,” she explained. “Obviously I don’t eat meat myself and I didn’t want to eat it in the scenes or anything. I noticed that a great script came along where Hilda made the Dark Lord a vegetable pie [instead]. They kindly incorporated that, so I was really pleased.”
For those who don’t know, when someone is vegan it means that they don’t eat any animal products. That means no meat or fish — but the main difference between a vegetarian and a vegan is that they also don’t eat things like honey, eggs and milk. Lucy opted for a vegan lifestyle because of her love for animals, and she hopes to encourage others to treat all creatures with kindness.
“My nephew, for example, got chickens and he just loves them so much, so now he doesn’t eat chicken,” she said. “When you connect with loving people and loving [animals], all our energy changes around that.”
It turns out, many other celebrities have decided to adopt the vegan life too, including Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, Zac Efron, Lea Michele, Liam Hemsworth, Eva Gutowski, Madelaine Petsch, Daniella Monet, Debby Ryan, Chloë Grace Moretz, Ryan McCartan, Sadie Sink, Tammin Sursok, Stefanie Scott, Sarah Jeffery, Ellie Goulding and more!
