It’s no secret that rumors have been swirling for a while now that Charli and Dixie D’Amelio have a reality show in the works with their family. We mean, just last month Dixie herself confirmed that something would be “coming” soon. Now, the entire family has launched their very own YouTube channel, and for their first video, the TikTok-famous sisters, along with their parents Heidi and Mark opened up about how being in the public eye effected them as a family.
Throughout the 25-minute interview hosted by Gadi Schwartz, they opened up about their quick rise to fame, and Charli got candid about being in the spotlight.
“If you have followers, you’re not considered a person, you’re just the thing that people get to judge and objectify, and call names, and bully because what are they gonna do?” the 16-year-old said. “They’re most of the time not gonna see it or I’ll say something back, ‘I never thought you were gonna see it.’ So it’s like they don’t expect it to hurt us, but we all do.”
She continued, “Growing up a dancer, if you don’t look the part, and you’re too tall, too skinny, too short, too fat, too muscular — that was my problem, I was too muscular, so I wasn’t a ballerina. I couldn’t be, because that’s what people would tell me, and I believed it. So hearing that from hundreds of people online, it hurts.”
Dixie also talked about defending her younger sister, and said she wanted to go back and tell everyone to “shut up.”
“Now, I don’t comment back to anyone, but at first it was very hard not to,” she added.
Both the girls’ parents also spoke out about bullying online and how they deal with their daughters getting hate online. Although they didn’t specifically touch on the possibility of a reality show, fans did get a glimpse into the internet’s biggest family like never before and with this YouTube channel, we’re hoping for more from all four D’Amelios!
