Some TikTok fans are seriously not happy with Griffin Johnson. Yep, the Sway House member took to YouTube on Wednesday, August 12, and uploaded a brand new video titled “I Messed Up.” Upon seeing the title, some viewers were convinced that he was going to address his recent breakup and cheating drama with Dixie D’Amelio and apologize for his actions, but that was not the case.
Instead of opening up about recent events, the 21-year-old discussed a bet that he made with fellow TikTok star Bryce Hall.
“I made a bet with Bryce that I was going to hit a million subs on YouTube before his birthday and it’s been a good run,” he explained. “It sucks because I hate losing to Bryce.”
As of now, Griffin has over 994,000 subscribers. He concluded the three-minute video with, “I messed up. I’m sorry, guys. I let you down, I let myself down.”
Fans quickly started to slam the influencer in the comment section. They called him out for a “fake” apology and for using “clickbait” to get views on the video.
“No one actually cares about that stupid bet,” one person wrote. “We want to hear your apology to Dixie like she deserves.”
“This is just disrespectful. Apologize, it’s not that hard,” another added. A third viewer said, “I just lost A LOT of respect for him.”
As fans know, Dixie confirmed that her and Griffin broke up in a YouTube video she uploaded on August 2. Their split came after someone claimed in a TikTok video (that has since gone viral) that Griffin messaged another girl and told her he was “single.” Plus, some eagle-eyed fans were quick to notice that the couple unfollowed each other on various social media platforms.
Previously, fellow TikTok star Chase Hudson accused Griffin of cheating on her in a since-deleted photo (that was quickly screenshotted and reposted by fans) from his notes app. At the time, Dixie denied the cheating rumors.
Griffin has yet to publicly address the rumors or recent backlash, and he did not immediately respond to J-14‘s request for comment.
