Harry Styles‘ fans are really not here for a Harry x James Charles collaboration. The makeup artist revealed during an Instagram live on Sunday, Dec. 16 that he really wants to work with the “Sign Of The Times” singer, but when he mentioned Harry’s sexuality, fans were not happy. Yikes!

“I would love to do a video with Harry Styles and sit with him and talk about like, his music, and One Direction, and everything he has going on, and all his amazing songs that have been coming out,” the 19-year-old said. “And like, the sexuality situation… that he’s been talking… and like, hinting at. Kinda fun.”

As J-14 readers know, Harry has been very open about being a big supporter of the LGBTQ community, and we are seriously loving it. But when asked if he’s ever labeled his own sexuality, he told The Sun: “No, I’ve never felt the need to really. No… I don’t feel like it’s something I’ve ever felt like I have to explain about myself.”

Fans quickly started to freak out about James’ comment, one writing: “Did he really just say he wanted to discuss Harry’s sexuality? Why do people care so much about his sexuality? Why is it so important? Why can’t people just respect that he doesn’t want to be labeled?”

“There is no ‘sexuality situation,'” another fan wrote. “Let Harry be, he is his own person who is in control of what he shares with the media. don’t make a ‘situation’ out of nothing. It’s all speculation.”

James Charles talks about Harry Styles sexuality
Twitter

After receiving tons of backlash, James quickly took to Twitter to defend himself. “When I mentioned harry on live, I meant no harm when I said I’d love to do a video [with] him about his music, career and life,” he wrote in a now deleted tweet. “I’ve seen amazing videos [of him] with LGBTQ flags + lyrics and admire how talented and open he is, but didn’t realize he wasn’t addressing his sexuality. I’m sorry.”

This isn’t the first time James has been under fire for talking about another celebrity. Earlier this year fans noticed he wrote some thirsty comments during Shawn Mendes‘ Instagram Live, and after the “In My Blood” singer ended the video abruptly, fans blamed James’ messages. In the end though, Shawn sent the YouTuber a friendly DM, explaining that they were all good. It’s definitely not cool to bring up someone’s sexuality if they’re not comfortable talking about it, but it appears James learned his lesson and meant no harm.
