The world was left pretty shook after Joey King called out her ex-boyfriend Jacob Elordi for claiming he hadn’t watched The Kissing Booth 2 yet, and now, the actress has revealed that she actually got his permission before hand!

For those who missed it, when asked about the ending of the second flick, Jacob told Variety, “I haven’t seen it. You’ve seen more than I have. I don’t know if I’m allowed to say that, but I haven’t. Do you like it?”

Naturally, upon seeing his quote online, the brunette beauty could not believe her eyes! She wrote in a now-deleted tweet, “Jacob watched it. He’s capping.”

Now, while speaking to The Howard Stern Show, she explained why she took the tweet down, and it turns out, it wasn’t because Jacob was upset.

“‘Capping’ means lying. I heard the term ‘capping’ on, like, TikTok and Twitter and Instagram, and through friends, and I was like ‘I guess this is the new thing.’ Apparently it’s not. It’s something that I should not have used as a white person. I took it down… Two accounts on Twitter called me out for it. That’s why I deleted it. People thought it was because I was like, ‘Oh no, I shouldn’t have said that about him,'” she explained, adding that it was “a jovial thing” that “wasn’t to be mean” to her ex.

“I was just like, ‘I know the Kissing Booth fans. They are always so curious about that tension of sorts… I know they’ll appreciate it,'” she dished. “That’s who it was for. It was for the fans to just be like, ‘Oh my God!’ And they were.”

The 21-year-old also confirmed that she “got Jacob’s permission” before hand, and that it was “fine.”

Phew. As fans know, Jacob and Joey first met on set of the movie, and since their characters were total goals in the Netflix movie, when they took their love off the screen and into real life, it was seriously a dream come true! It’s unfortunately unclear what went wrong in the end, but in November 2018, fans noticed that they had deleted some of their old romantic snaps together, and assumed that they had broken up.

While speaking to Cosmopolitan in August 2020, The Act star spoke about what it was like work her ex on the sequel.

“No one’s thinking to themselves, ‘That was easy,’ because it wasn’t. I’m sure people will analyze every movement and every detail. And you know what? Let them. But at the end of the day, I was just thrilled to be Elle Evans again… There’s so much I want to say. What’s the most, um, correct way to go about this? Elle Evans needs her Noah Flynn, and whatever that means for my personal life, I’ll do anything to make sure the story of my character who I care about so much is complete,” she said.
