Fans were left pretty shook when Justin Bieber was caught lip-syncing his ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez‘s name in a new video. Yep, the singer just made a surprise appearance in Drake and DJ Khaled’s new music video for their song “POPSTAR,” where he lip-synced the entire track. But as fans know, they actually mention his ex in one verse of the song, which made things a little awkward.

“Look, Ariana Selena, my Visa / It can take as many charges as it needs to, my girl,” the lyrics read.

But not to worry, people, because the 26-year-old seemed completely unbothered as he danced and lip-synced along, even when it got to the part about the Wizards of Waverly Place star!

As fans know, the two stars’ relationship may go down in history as one of the messiest of all time. They first started dating back in 2010, and were on and off for almost eight years. Their love story was definitely a rollercoaster ride — one month they would be spotted packing on the PDA or walking hand-in-hand, and the next they’d be shading each other on social media or in interviews! Selena’s BFF Taylor Swift even seemingly revealed that the “Love Yourself” crooner had cheated on Selena at one point, when she liked a super shady post about it on Tumblr. And get this, you guys — they’ve even written numerous songs about one another. Eventually, things ended for good when Justin fell for model Hailey Baldwin, who he married in September 2018.

And it turns out, this isn’t the first time the pop star has spoken out about the former Disney actress. Back in April 2019, he took to his Instagram Stories to slam a news article that totally spelled his name wrong. He posted a video of his computer screen, but when he accidentally showed his search history for a second, fans quickly noticed that Selena’s Coachella performance of her song with DJ Snake and Ozuna, “Taki Taki,” was there! But Justin insisted at the time that he didn’t search for her after all.

“The video of Selena singing ‘Taki Taki’ came up after my wife and I watched my Coachella performance. Obviously she’s going to be in the related category. It literally was the next video that played,” he wrote on Instagram. “To fans and people who think I’m maliciously trying to start s**t, grow up.”

“Please stop reading into things so much and making something out of nothing,” he added. “The point of the video was supposed to be funny that they … spelled my name wrong this idea that I secretly [plotted] on opening my history thing purposefully and [zoomed] out just enough so you can see her name is crazy. These are real lives you guys are talking about. Real emotions. Stop acting like you know anything anything… Go to school, read your books and focus on your own personal life.”
