We can pretty much all agree that Logan Paul has done a lot of things that made people question whether or not he’s capable of feeling empathy. Well, thanks to a recent brain scan, the YouTube star now knows exactly why his brain functions the way it does.

That’s right, ladies and gentlemen! In his latest video, the 23-year-old vlogger went to the doctor and learned that he suffered from a significant amount of brain trauma over the years, which was mostly caused by a trampoline accident that fractured his skull and playing football in high school.

“You had a very significant injury,” the doctor said. “… This is really important because right here is the most human, thoughtful part of us. It makes you human. So it’s called the pre-frontal cortex — largest in humans than any other animal. So it’s 30% of the human brain and you hurt it, which means you’re going to have trouble with focus, forethought, follow-through, organization, planning, empathy and learning from the mistakes you make.”

Immediately, things started to click for Logan — especially when the doctor mentioned empathy. In fact, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard about Logan lacking empathy. When the suicide forest video scandal happened, tons of people wondered if he was capable of feeling any sort of remorse. Then, in Shane Dawson‘s Mind of Jake Paul docuseries, Shane revealed that he had a DM exchange with Logan in which he opened up about his mental health.

“I’m on the sociopath spectrum,” Logan said. “I wouldn’t say I’m a sociopath, but I would absolutely say I have sociopathic tendencies, and at the beginning of the year I was at a place in my life where they got the best of me and they consumed me, which is when it gets dangerous.”

Then, Shane asked Logan directly whether or not he’s capable of feeling empathy.

“Of course I feel empathy,” he said. “The level at which I feel it differs for each topic or subject, though.” How interesting!

Now that we know his lack of empathy has a lot to do with the damage his brain has accumulated over the years, it only makes sense that he takes steps to make sure his brain health improves.

“We need to fix this,” the doctor said. “If we don’t fix this, no matter how successful you are, you’re not going to make the decisions you need to move your life in the direction you want. … Living the rest of your life with this brain is not going to be fun for you or the people who love you because you’re going to have trouble connecting.”

In addition to recommending some supplements and vitamins to improve his brain health, the doctor also suggested that the YouTube star stops doing any high-risk behaviors. But considering his YouTube channel is full of crazy stunts, that might be a little hard.

“Well, the problem is I need clickbait,” Logan said.

Even with all of his clickbait concerns, it seemed like the YouTube star understood what the doctor was saying. Still, it’s unlikely that he’ll back out of his boxing commitments and stop doing high-risk activities altogether. Regardless, he did promise that he’s going to make a more conscious effort to take care of his brain and to educate kids about the dangers of a sport like American football, and honestly, that sounds like an improvement to us!
