Last night’s episode of Riverdale was a pretty emotional one, and that’s because it had Luke Perry‘s final scene. The last episode that the actor ever filmed aired on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, and we are so sad to see him go. You might want to grab some tissues.

As fans know, Luke played Fred Andrews, Archie‘s dad, in the CW series. The beloved actor unfortunately passed away on March 4, 2019, after suffering from a massive stroke. And in case you missed it, here’s what went down in his final scene. Archie was upset after his boxing opponent Randy Ronson sadly died during their match. Although Randy technically passed away from a drug overdose, Archie was convinced that the town would try to frame him for another murder. So he turned to his dad for some guidance.

“Son, from everything you’ve said, it’s clear that Randy died from those drugs,” Fred told Archie in the touching scene. “An autopsy will support that. You’re innocent.”

And those were Fred’s final lines. Ugh, our hearts are seriously breaking. Fred was one of the most kind-hearted people ever, and his constant love and support for his son was honestly so inspiring. He was full of amazing wisdom and advice (just like Luke), and he stuck by Archie no matter how messy things got. He will definitely be missed.

Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa revealed on Sunday, April 21, 2019 that this week’s episode would be his last.

“This week’s  is the last episode Luke filmed,” he shared on Twitter. “As always, Fred’s imparting words of wisdom to Archie. A beautiful, true moment between a father and his son. Wish these scenes could go on forever…”

As for how the show will address his tragic passing, we’re still not 100 percent sure.

“You know, honestly, we are, I think, all still in shock and are all still processing and grieving,” Roberto told Entertainment Tonight back in March. “We know that we have to address it in some way, but we’re giving ourselves a little bit of time and space before we figure out the best way to honor him.”

RIP Luke.
