Get ready for a major walk down memory lane! Malcolm in the Middle premiered on Fox on January 9, 2000, and kicked off major careers for a few of its stars.
The fan-favorite series, which starred Bryan Cranston, Frankie Muniz, Christopher Masterson, Justin Berfield, Jane Kaczmarek and Erik Per Sullivan, among other famous faces who were just getting their start. Well-known names, including Hayden Panettiere and Cameron Monaghan, guest starred on the show throughout its seven seasons on the air, until coming to an end on May 14, 2006. Malcolm in the Middle followed a young genius named Malcolm and showcased the daily antics of his extremely dysfunctional family.
Although it jump-started his acting career, Frankie struggles to remember his time on the show’s set. While appearing as a contestant on Dancing With the Stars in 2017, the Big Fat Liar actor revealed that he struggled with memory loss, specifically when it comes to his Malcolm in the Middle days.
“It’s something that I never really wanted to talk about, because I’m just me and this is my life,” the actor told People at the time. “But we were talking about Malcolm [in the Middle] and how it started, and I don’t really have memories of being on the show.”
He added, “Over the past 10 years, my mom will bring up things like trips we went on or big events and they are new stories to me. I don’t know what the cause of it is. It’s not something I looked into, I just thought it was how my brain is — so I thought it was normal. I didn’t know I should remember going to the Emmys when I was younger.”
The topic came up during the DWTS Most Memorable Year week, to which Frankie told the publication: “My most memorable year is 2017, because I learned to live in the present. I’m happy with my acting career, I’m happy with the decision I made to drive race cars and to focus on music. Even if I don’t remember it all, I’m happy.”
