Over the last few years, some of our favorite musicals have been re-done live for television, and we absolutely loved them. Hairspray Live! (which starred Ariana Grande, Garrett Clayton, and Dove Cameron) and Grease: Live (which starred Vanessa Hudgens, Keke Palmer, Carly Rae Jepsen, Jordan Fisher, and Carlos PenaVega) were some of our favorites, but they’ve honestly all been pretty epic.
Now, Vanessa and Jordan (who both made their start on Disney Channel) will be reuniting on stage once again, and you’re not going to believe which show they’re bringing to live television this time. Drum roll please, it’s Rent — the epic story about a group of young artists struggling to create a life in New York City. In the Broadway musical, they come together to prove that as long as you’ve got your loved ones, you don’t need money.
The trailer for the live rendition of the play dropped today, and the cast looks absolutely amazing. Besides Vanessa and Jordan, it stars Tinashe, Mario, and more. It will air on Fox on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019, and Michael Greif, the director of the original Broadway production is the director overseeing the stage direction! It looks like it’s going to be awesome, and we can hardly wait.
