Mark your calendars because Rihanna‘s documentary is officially premiering in Summer 2021, and we’re freaking out! Yep, according to director Peter Berg, the rumors are true.

“The Rihanna doc is something I’ve been working on with her for almost four years now,” he said during a recent interview with Collider, before revealing the release date is “hopefully around the Fourth of July.”

The Friday Night Lights creator added, “It’s been a really epic journey, the past four years with her. She’s a remarkable woman, who everyday seems to grow and branch out into new businesses and new endeavors at a rate that it’s almost hard to keep up with.”

Peter explained that the film has taken so long to make because the songstress continues to launch brand new business endeavors.

“Every time we think we’re going to finish the movie and put it out, she does something like start a fashion line like Fenty, or her lingerie line, or her skin care line. She’s firing on all cylinders, she’s making new music now and she’s having so much success in business and she’s such an entrepreneur that we’re letting it grow, but we are gonna try and close it up in the spring and release it in the summer,” he said.

Although he didn’t offer much more information about what fans can expect to watch, from the sound of it, fans will get an inside look at her every day life and, hopefully, some much-needed tea on Rihanna’s upcoming ninth album. As fans know, the 32-year-old told Vogue U.K. in April that she has new music in the works.

“I can’t say when I’m going to drop, but I am very aggressively working on music,” she said. “I don’t want my albums to feel like themes. There are no rules. There’s no format. There’s just good music, and if I feel it, I’m putting it out.”

The songstress continued at the time, “I feel like I have no boundaries. I’ve done everything – I’ve done all the hits, I’ve tried every genre – now I’m just, I’m wide open. I can make anything that I want.”
