As fans know, back in July 2019, Sarah Hyland said yes when her longtime boyfriend, Wells Adams, proposed during a beautiful trip to the beach. Now, the actress has revealed that before he got down on one knee, the former Bachelorette contestant not only asked her real parents for permission, but her Modern Family parents too.

“When my fiancé proposed, he asked my mom and dad for their blessing. Then, he also hunted down Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell and asked for their blessing,” she gushed during an interview with ABC after the show’s final episode aired earlier this week. “So, they really, really are like my second set of parents.”

During a recent interview with Cosmopolitan, the 29-year-old dished on how she first met the love of her life, and surprisingly, it was through an Instagram DM!

“I asked him when he was going to ask me to be his girlfriend. I’m impatient,” she admitted. “It’s the most millennial thing in the entire world. I kind of want to gag at it.”

The TV star even said she’s taken on a brand new role throughout the past three years that her and Wells have been together!

“This is the first time I’ve been in a relationship where I’m like, ‘How am I the child in the relationship?’ I’ve always been the adult,” she said, before adding that her man is the better communicator. “So it’s mostly me having to work on my s**t.”

Despite their minor tiffs, the couple definitely hasn’t slowed down since they first started dating, especially once Sarah realized that he was the one!

“We were talking about what kinds of weddings we wanted four days after we made things official,” she said. “I hate that typical cliché of ‘when you know, you know,’ but it’s so f**king true. At least it was for me.”
